About us
The name “Gorkha Palace” received its popularity as Modern Nepal’s First Shah Dynasty King Prithvinarayan Shah’s reign lived in the palace in mid-18th century.
Prithvinarayan Shah is the father of modern unified Nepal and Gorkha Kingdom. Although Gorkha Palace is prevalently known since Prithvinarayan Shah, foundation of this palace dates back to King Ram Shah’s reign in beginning of 17th
century.
Gorkha offers its name since British East India in 1947. British were overwhelmingly impressed by the Gorkha’s ( people from Nepalese hills) fighting ability since 1814. By this impressive performance and abilities, British chose to take them as source of warriors instead of colonising them since then Gurkhas play vital role for British security forces. For the first time Gurkhas were recruited as British Army in 1815.

The food was very tasty, with fresh herbs and spices used. The starters were generously sized. I had the Gorkha chilli chicken starter and I was very happy with my choice. Others had momo, chilli fish and pakoras. Main courses were equally tasty and portions
